About Aviendo

Every brand has an origin. Ours begins with a question.

In 2013, Anders and Jo left their careers in the shipping industry to pursue something they had been quietly turning over for years: what would you create if you wanted to leave something behind?

They turned to what they knew best: Danish design. And to what they loved most: the fairytales that had shaped them since childhood. Hans Christian Andersen had spent his life creating stories that connected people across generations. Anders and Jo wanted to do the same.

For over a decade, Anders and Jo built Aviendo always guided by a simple belief: that the objects we choose to live with should enrich the people around them.

2014

Launch of ugly duckling

Aviendo began with The Ugly Duckling — launched at the Danish Architecture Centre in Copenhagen in August 2014.

 

2016

Retail presence

Securing a presence in Denmark's leading retailers such as Illums Bolighus and Bahne — marking Aviendo's arrival as an established design brand.

 

2017

Launch of The Nightingale

The Nightingale joins the Fairytale Collection, deepening the world of Aviendo three years after The Ugly Duckling first took flight.

 

We began at the graduation exhibition at the Royal Danish Academy — where we found our first collaborators among Denmark's most promising emerging designers. The Ugly Duckling came first, and it set the tone for everything that followed: objects reduced to their essence, crafted to last, and designed to reward a second look.

New collabs & products

Over the following years, new designer collaborations brought new figures to life — each one deepening the collection and strengthening our design language.

 

2024

Succession

In late 2024, as Anders prepared for retirement, the story passed to Mikkel and William — friends who had encountered Aviendo and found themselves unable to look away.

 

2026

Relaunch & new designs

In 2026, following a reimagined product offering, new designer collaborations, and a complete visual overhaul, Aviendo launched five new figures — and an entirely new face to show the world.
